3 Iranian Christians Will Receive 80 Lashes for Taking Communion

Three Christians were just sentenced to eighty lashes by Iranian authorities for violating Sharia law.

The Islamic legislation states that drinking communion wine in the middle eastern country is forbidden.

Yaser Mosibzadeh, Saheb Fadayee and Mohammed Reza Omidi were arrested earlier this year for doing just that, during a church gathering held at their pastor’s home, Yousef Nadarkhani and his wife Fatemeh Pasandideh.

After the five were picked up, the pastor and his wife’s house was searched by authorities but the couple were let go and were not convicted.

Under Sharia law, Mosibzadeh, Fadayee and Omidi were found guilty of blasphemy, a conviction that comes with 80 lashes.

The actual act of drinking alcohol is not illegal for Christians to partake in, in the country but under Sharia law, Muslims are not allowed to legally drink.

It is also illegal for born Muslims in Iran to convert to another religion like christianity, according to the nation’s law.

The three that converted from Islam to Christianity will be lashed in public.

The conversion is not recognized by Iranian authorities who subscribe to Sharia law.
